Have used this product for years and it responds well under many conditions from 30 below to 90° above.
Great product.
About four years ago, I remodeled the shower in my master bathroom. The shower has a unique shape, so a standard shower pan wouldn’t work. Rather than purchase a custom pan, I removed the existing tile and floor, poured a new concrete base, and applied an epoxy product from a big-box store. It had a marbleized appearance and, initially, looked pretty good.
Unfortunately, I quickly discovered my first mistake: it was slick as snot! Every shower became a lesson in stabilization and careful footing just to keep from busting my butt.
My second mistake was not allowing the concrete to cure long enough before applying the epoxy. Eventually, the epoxy began peeling up, and the shower floor needed to be completely redone.
That’s where Slip Doctors came in.
I reached out to several epoxy manufacturers and retailers because I wanted to use a quality product that would work for my particular situation. Slip Doctors responded almost immediately. The fastest response I received from any of the other companies was four days later, and some never responded at all.
I explained my situation to Slip Doctors, including what I had done previously and how I was planning to approach the new application. They recommended the products and application process they felt would work best. We went back and forth through email several times, and I never felt like I was on my own. They answered my questions and made sure I was comfortable with what I was doing before I moved forward.
So, I went to work.
I ground the existing epoxy off completely, taking it back to the base material. I thoroughly vacuumed the surface and then wiped it down with a solvent to remove any remaining dirt, dust, or contaminants.
I applied Hydro Prime to seal the concrete and then waited seven days to allow it to properly cure.
Next, I added a bonding agent to the Gray Epoxy Paint Primer and rolled on two coats, allowing approximately four hours between coats while the first coat was still slightly tacky.
After allowing the primer to dry for a day or two, I applied Extra Grip to the Gray Dura Grip and rolled on two coats. This time, I allowed the first coat to dry completely before applying the second.
The finished product looks great. Most importantly, it provides the traction I was looking for in a wet environment. Although the directions indicate that it should be ready for use after a day or two, I'm giving it four full days before putting it through the ultimate test—a shower.
Based on the application process and the results so far, I am extremely pleased with the products. But just as importantly, I was impressed with the customer support. Slip Doctors took the time to understand my particular situation and helped me develop a process rather than simply selling me a product.
I would not hesitate to recommend Slip Doctors to anyone looking for a quality product and, equally important, a company that actually stands behind its products and helps its customers.
