Max Grip High-Performance Concrete Preparation & Quarry Tile Treatment
- Improves Adhesion and Concrete Surface Prep: Max Grip effectively opens the pores of the concrete, creating a rough surface that allows coatings to bond effectively. This action prevents peeling or flaking over time and is ideal for enhancing concrete adhesion promoter qualities.
- Prevents Coating Failure: By preparing the surface properly, Max Grip ensures an even application, reducing the risk of premature coating failure. This makes it an excellent choice for those seeking a reliable concrete coating enhancer.
- Enhances Durability in High Traffic Areas: Max Grip increases the lifespan of coatings, making them more resistant to heavy traffic, adverse weather conditions, and wear. This positions it as a leading solution for heavy traffic concrete coating.
- Optimizes Anti-Slip Performance: Specifically formulated to prep surfaces for anti-slip coatings, Max Grip ensures long-term effectiveness by enhancing coating adhesion and grip. It is the go-to anti-slip coating prep product, ensuring safety and durability.

Max Grip Concrete Etching and Cleaning Solution
Max Grip is a high-performance concrete etching solution designed to enhance the adhesion and durability of coatings and epoxies. Upon application, its immediate foaming action activates, breaking down surface contaminants like dirt, grease, oils, and old coatings. This process effectively opens the pores of the concrete, creating a fine-grit sandpaper texture that allows coatings to bond effectively, preventing peeling or flaking over time.
This easy-to-use, premixed formula is ideal for both residential and commercial applications, efficiently covering approximately 400 sq-ft per gallon. Whether prepping a residential garage, driveway, or an industrial warehouse floor, Max Grip ensures superior adhesion and durability, extending the lifespan of coatings even in high-traffic areas. It’s perfect for laying the groundwork for anti-slip coatings such as Dura Grip, Alpha Grip, and Tuff Grip.
Max Grip delivers professional-grade results without the need for complex equipment, making it a staple for concrete surface prep in workshops, showrooms, and industrial floors. With its long 5-year shelf life, Max Grip stands out as the go-to solution for bare concrete preparation, enhancing resistance to heavy foot traffic, vehicle wear, and environmental conditions.
- Read product label and Technical Data Sheet thoroughly before application to review safety precautions, surface preparation, and full application instructions.
- Always wear the recommended safety equipment and follow safety precautions.
- SlipDoctors® MAX GRIP is an acid-etch treatment designed to prepare concrete surfaces for epoxy coatings or to increase slip resistance on unsealed concrete and most stone surfaces.
- Prepare Concrete Surface for epoxy coatings. Please review the TDS for detailed information.
- Surface must be free of previous coatings, grease, oil, dirt, and other contaminants prior to application.
- Prepare surface by sweeping the area. Degrease minor oil stains and rinse thoroughly. If significant oil/grease stains are present, use a planetary grinder to remove the stains before application.
- Remove all excess water by squeegee. Pour MAX GRIP directly from the bottle onto the surface and spread evenly over the entire area using a microfiber T-mop, nap roller, or other applicator. Allow MAX GRIP to remain wet on the surface. The suggested treatment time is 5-15 minutes. Thoroughly rinse the entire treated area with clean water and dry with wet vacuum or squeegee.
- After the application is complete, the surface should have a texture that resembles a fine grit sandpaper. Repeat the process if necessary.
- IMPORTANT: After etching, allow the surface to dry completely before applying a coating. Refer to the chart in the TDS document for recommended dry times.
- Review General Surface Preparation instructions. Thoroughly clean the surface prior to treatment using a pH-neutral commercial-grade detergent to remove all grease, oil, dirt, or other contaminants. Scrub with a stiff bristle brush, then thoroughly rinse with fresh water while continuing the scrubbing process. Rinsing can also be done using a pressure wash of 3,000-5,000 psi. The floor may need to be rinsed multiple times to remove all cleaning products.
- PREPARE THE NEUTRALIZER - Fill a bucket or small tank sprayer with clean tap water. Add one or two tablespoons of baking soda per gallon of water and mix well. Set aside to use when needed.
- For highly polished surfaces, use shorter treatment times (1–2 minutes). Always test on one tile in an inconspicuous area. Clean and dry the tile, apply a small amount of MAX GRIP (do not pour directly), and test slip resistance every 30 seconds using a rubber-soled shoe. Once satisfied, neutralize and rinse. Note: Full instructions are available in the TDS.
- Apply MAX GRIP only to areas you can treat and neutralize within the test-determined time. Do not let it dry or pour directly from the bottle. Rinse thoroughly after neutralizing. For best results on large floors, work in sections.
- CLEAN UP: Keep the surface clean using a degreaser like Maintain Grip to preserve slip resistance.
- For full instructions, always refer to the TDS.
